| Docs Matador ( Bud ) is a cremello/dun stallion foaled in 2000. He was first registered with the APHA as Poco Gold Doc since AQHA was not registering double dilute horses at that time due to the blue eyes. It has been genetically proven that all double dilute horses have blue eyes and has nothing to do with being a Paint horse. As soon as AQHA changed the registration status of the double dilute horses, he received his AQHA registration papers. He has NO Paint breeding in his pedigree. All his ancestors are AQHA. APHA was going to cancel registration papers on all doulble dilute AQHA horses registered with them as soon as they received their AQHA papers. When I contacted APHA that Bud had gotten his AQHA papers, they said he could keep his APHA registration status also. Consequently, his APHA registered name is Poco Gold Doc. That name was already taken at AQHA so his name there is Docs Matador. His WFQHA registered name is also Docs Matador. He is 94.92 % Foundation bred per his WFQHR registration papers. Unfortunately, FQHR will not register double dilute horses because of their color. His foals however, can be if they meet the percentage requirements. Genetically, Bud is ee, Aa, CRCR and Dd. Although there is no test for dun ( D ), he sires foals with dun factor so we know he is Dd. He can only sire palomino or palomino/dun foals out of sorrel or chestnut mares. Out of black, brown or bay mares he will sire smoky black, buckskin, dunskin, palomino or palomino/dun foals depending on the genetic color status of the mare. He will only sire a double dilute ( cremello or perlino ) if bred to a single dilute ( palomino, buckskin, dunskin, palomino dun or smoky black ) He tends to sire his heavy muscle out of all types of mares. He also seems to put some length to the neck and shortens the back on his foals. Conformationally, his foals are pretty correct. Tempermentally his foals are easy to get along with if handled without being excessively rough. They do tend to be thinkers tho !! His first 2 AQHA foals to show did well this year. His weanling colt, Matadors Honor, won the Champion Weanling Colt award at the 2006 FQHR Round Up. He also won his class at the OKFQHR show in October and was the Champion Weanling Colt for 2006. He has been gelded and will be shown next year til sold. His weanling filly, Chadolena Gold, was third her only time shown at the October OKFQHR show. She came right out of the pasture !!! Watch for more of his foals next year at the OKFQHR shows and at the FQHR Round Up. Bud is unshown. He was entered in the WFQHA World Show in 2004 but came up lame on all four legs while with a trainer. On my veterinarians advice, he was scratched from the show. Horses with his type of heavy muscling can become extremely sore when worked excessively in heavily sanded round pens !!! |
